Trust in God or Man

Thoughts that were pondered...

You either can put your trust in God or trust in man (which would include, trusting in your own skills and abilities rather than relying on God).

(Alma 38) After Alma has asked his son to remember to trust in God, Alma commences to teach his son to trust in God by sharing his own conversion story. When Alma was experiencing the most bitter pain and anguish of his soul he was able to remember what his father had taught him of the Lord Jesus Christ. And he did cry unto Christ and was able to receive remission for his sins. Only God can do that for us and he already has. Jesus Christ has paid the price for our sins. After crying unto the Lord he was able to find peace. What a blessing for him and many other who have and continue to cry unto Christ for a remission of their sins.
"...there is no other way or means whereby man can be saved, only in and through Christ. Behold,
he is the life and the light of the world. Behold, he is the word of truth and righteousness."
          (Alma 38:9)

Alma warns  us to be:
- diligent and temperate in all things (Alma 38:10) In other words to be consistently working towards    overcoming the natural man (self-mastery).
- see that ye are not lifted up in pride (Alma 38:11)
- do not boast in your own wisdom, nor of your much strength (Alma 38:10)
- bridle your passions (Alma 38:11)
- refrain from idleness (Alma 38:11)
- pray (direction of what to pray for in Alma 38: 14)

Alma's conversion story is a great lesson on how to trust in God.
My prayer:
May we put our trust in God so our burdens may be lighter.
